Overview

Created in partnership with Digital Promise, this live-virtual RocketPD cohort experience provides a unique opportunity for school and district leaders — alongside teachers, instructional coaches, and special education professionals — to engage deeply with research-based strategies for learner variability. Rather than one-off trainings or generic PD, this cohort supports sustained, collaborative learning: participants will engage with peers, examine real-world learner profiles, apply high-leverage instructional strategies, and plan systemic changes aligned with the needs of neurodiverse learners. This is especially important at a time when districts face growing learner variability, widening gaps in engagement, and the need for inclusive, strength-based practices.

Over the course of five live-virtual sessions, participants will:

  • Collaborate in structured learning conversations on learner variability, whole-child design, and inclusive instruction.
  • Gain access to the RocketPD Learning Portal, where sessions are recorded and available for a limited time.
  • Receive a cohort workbook and LVN-aligned planning templates — practical tools for instructional redesign.
  • Leave with a “District Action Plan” or classroom-level implementation roadmap designed to support all learners.

This cohort is ideal for a team-based or individual registration from across a school or district. Participants might include: classroom teachers, special education teachers/coordinators, instructional coaches, principals, assistant principals, curriculum & instruction directors, MTSS leads, PD coordinators, and district leadership teams. Whether you’re looking to build inclusive classrooms, reimagine IEPs, or launch a district-wide variability strategy — this cohort supports you.

How will this help my team?

Unlike traditional PD that treats variability as an exception, this cohort frames variability as the norm — and offers a research-backed pathway to build inclusive, flexible instruction. Engaging with Digital Promise’s Learner Variability Navigator (LVN) and strength-based, whole-child frameworks, your team will:
Define what strength-based, inclusive instruction looks like in your context

  • Build practical systems and workflows to support diverse learners
  • Align special education, general classroom instruction, and district-level planning to meet every learner’s needs
  • Begin implementing high-leverage strategies immediately — whether in individual classrooms or across the district

Access to the RocketPD Learning Portal

Participants get password-protected access to recordings, cohort workbooks, LVN-aligned planning templates, and practical resources — all available via the RocketPD portal.

Certificate of Completion

Upon completing the cohort, each participant will receive a customized Certificate of Completion to share with their administration, documenting their commitment and learning.

What you’ll learn

By the end of this cohort, participants will be able to:

  • Understand learner variability as a universal and natural aspect of learning — not as an exception
  • Use LVN-informed planning to design instruction and support tailored to a wide range of learner needs
  • Create inclusive learning environments that foster agency, voice, belonging, and academic growth for neurodiverse learners
  • Develop strength-based IEPs and whole-child plans that honor students’ cognitive, social-emotional, and contextual strengths
  • Launch lesson/learning designs that anticipate variability from the start — reducing the need for “after-the-fact” accommodations
  • Build a sustainable plan for systemic change at the classroom or district level

The sessions

Session #1

Thursday, February 10, 2026 | 3:30 - 5:00 PM EST (12:30 - 2:00 PM PST)

Understanding Learner Variability: Why It Matters for Every Classroom

  • Explore why learner variability is the rule, not the exception, and how variability affects learners across ages, backgrounds, and ability levels
  • Identify how cognitive, social-emotional, and contextual factors — including neurodiversity, trauma, language, and environment — shape students’ learning needs and capacities
  • Reflect on why traditional “one-size-fits-all” instruction often fails to meet students where they are, and what’s lost when variability is ignored
Session #2

Thursday, February 17, 2026 | 3:30 - 5:00 PM EST (12:30 - 2:00 PM PST)

Applying the Learner Variability Navigator (LVN) to Real Classrooms

  • Learn how LVN translates research into practical, actionable strategies tailored to student variability
  • Examine learner profiles that reflect the “whole child,” not just academic metrics or labels — considering strengths, challenges, and context
  • Practice mapping supports: use LVN to design inclusive, personalized supports that promote engagement, access, and growth
Session #3

Thursday, February 24, 2026 | 3:30 - 5:00 PM EST (12:30 - 2:00 PM PST)

Designing Learning for the Whole Child: Agency, Belonging & Inclusion

  • Explore how whole-child design builds agency, voice, and self-advocacy for neurodiverse students
  • Design classroom structures and routines that foster belonging, psychological safety, and inclusivity for all learners
  • Identify personalization strategies — like flexible pacing, multiple pathways, and student choice — to empower learners to take ownership of their learning
Session #4

Thursday, March 3, 2026 | 3:30 - 5:00 PM EST (12:30 - 2:00 PM PST)

Creating Strength-Based, Whole-Child IEPs and Plans

  • Shift from deficit-focused IEPs to strength-first, growth-oriented plans that honor student assets
  • Learn how to integrate cognitive, emotional, and contextual factors into IEP goal-setting and support plans
  • Use a collaborative planning model to engage students, families, and educators in co-creating whole-child plans that support long-term success
Session #5

Thursday, March 10, 2026 | 3:30 - 5:00 PM EST (12:30 - 2:00 PM PST)

Designing Lessons That Include All Learners (Especially Those with Learning Differences)

  • Apply LVN-informed frameworks to design lessons that anticipate learner variability from the start, reducing the need for retroactive “fixes” or accommodations
  • Practice concrete lesson redesign strategies to increase participation, access, and success for neurodiverse and neurotypical learners alike
  • Build a flexible “kit of ready-to-use” classroom strategies and supports that can be implemented immediately
