Overview

Traditional, front-of-the-classroom instruction fails to meet too many learners’ needs. They fail to achieve their potential, and their teachers burn out.

But there is a better way.

In this live-virtual 5-session course, led by Robert Barnett, educator, author, and co-founder of the Modern Classrooms Project (MCP), you’ll learn to redesign instruction so that all learners can succeed. Designed for principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches, and teachers, this transformative professional development experience empowers educators to create classrooms where every student truly learns.

The course challenges the limitations of the one-size-fits-all instructional model, equipping participants with the tools to implement blended, self-paced, and mastery-based instruction. Through five engaging 90-minute virtual sessions, participants will:

  • Discover why traditional teaching methods fail to meet diverse student needs.
  • Learn how to design lessons that support every learner’s journey to authentic mastery.
  • Develop cohesive, self-paced courses that keep students appropriately challenged and supported.
  • Create action plans using MCP’s School Transformation Criteria to inspire systemic change within their schools and communities.
  • Leave with actionable strategies and resources they can use to meet every learner’s needs — starting right away.

By the end of this course, participants will be ready and able to implement practical, research-backed teaching strategies that keep every student appropriately challenged – and appropriately supported — every day. Whether you’re seeking to refine your own practice or lead a larger instructional shift, this course provides a clear path to educational excellence.

Don’t just adapt to the future of education — lead it.

– Erin, K-8 STEM Teacher, Washington

marci

“My students’ learning has become more personalized, they are more engaged, and their mastery has increased. Meanwhile, I have the freedom to engage with students, I know where each student is on their path to mastery, and I’m a better teacher. I won’t return to traditional instruction.”

– Marci, HS English Teacher, Iowa

torre

“This approach has given me a renewed sense of hope and courage. I can now spend more time directly serving each student, so I’m now able to close those gaps and teach valuable life skills at the same time.”

Frequently asked questions

What is Redesigning Instruction: A Three-Step Process to Meet Every Learner’s Needs — and how can it help?

Redesigning Instruction: A Three-Step Process to Meet Every Learner’s Needs is the result of new strategic partnership between the Modern Classrooms Project and RocketPD.

Why do this as part of a cohort?

The RocketPD cohort experience is designed to give educators and school district leaders an actionable, affordable and convenient way to facilitate difficult but necessary strategic conversations and initiatives at a time when schools and school communities face both intense initiative fatigue and competing distractions. The live-virtual sessions give educators and school district leaders an easy and reliable way to collaborate with Robert Barnett, author of Meet Every Learner’s Needs and co-founder of the Modern Classrooms Project and other colleagues from around the world on a topic of strategic importance to schools and teachers. Individual teachers can register or school district teams can register select members of their building or central-office teams for open cohorts.

What’s included in this program?

Delivered over five weeks, the program includes (5) scheduled structured learning conversations, delivered virtually over Zoom. Plus, password-protected access to the RocketPD Learning Portal, where participants can access the recordings for a limited time during the cohort experience. Upon completion, all registrants also receive a customized Certificate of Completion to share with their administrative team.

Who should participate?

Redesigning Instruction: A Three-Step Process to Meet Every Learner’s Needs is an (5)-session (90 minutes each) collaborative professional-learning experience for classroom teachers, instructional coaches and other instructional leaders. Participants will emerge with practical and proven strategies to integrate the foundational elements of the Modern Classroom Project’s and Robert Barnett’s blended framework for individualized instruction in their schools and/or school districts.

How will this help my team?

The RocketPD cohort experience provides a unique opportunity for school district leadership and their teachers and staff teams to have candid conversations with a nationally recognized educator, author and nonprofit leader on the subject of redesigning classroom learning for individualized instruction. Unlike one-off seminars and keynote speeches, the cohort provides a clear opportunity for sustained development and the basis for a framework that teachers and other school leaders can use to create stronger, more supportive environments for improved student outcomes.

What is the schedule?

This (5)-session cohort-based experience will take place between October and November 2025. You can view the the full schedule, including dates and times in The Schedule section above. If you want to participate in this cohort, but the dates and times do not work for your schedule, keep in mind that, while live participation is always encouraged, the sessions are recorded and accessible via the RocketPD Learning Portal for a limited time. If you have a large team (50 or more), and the schedule dates and times do not work for you entire team, reach out using the form below to inquire about the formation of a custom cohort for your district.
